One Child at a Time Full Story
David Obule

David Obule is now 12 years old and is the youngest of 5 boys in the Obule family. Life has been a continuous struggle for his family. When David was a young boy his father left, presumably because he was infected with AIDS and did not want to face the shame of his family watching him die.
Because of extreme financial burdens the Obules have known hunger and homeless for most of their lives. The stress of being a single mother living on the streets and watching her boys suffer resulted in David's mother leaving them at the Glory Ministries Church in Kampala several years ago.
David's older brothers were able to attain sponsors who provided them with the finances needed to attend school. Although David was old enough to attend school, he had no one to help him and no way to earn the necessary money. He spent his days on the streets around the church waiting for his brothers.
Thanks to the feeding program at the church David was able to eat and he was allowed to sleep there with his brothers.
In May 2007, GCCI team members were so touched by David's story and his desire to help record a fundraising CD for GCCI that they accepted him into their program. He was enrolled in school in Kampala where he will attend until the GCCI project is completed and he can move into a home there.
David dreams of becoming a lawyer and being able to help all children attend school. And, of course, he wants to use his beautiful voice to sing and give thanks to those who have brought hope into his young heart.

Glory Children's City International (GCCI) is a group of more than 30 people who joined together in 2005 to make life better for a group of orphans in Masaka, Uganda. All of the officers and board members are volunteers. Administrative supplies, time, and all items needed for the GCCI project are donated by the board and other members. This is a program where 100% of the funding and resources go directly to the children.
